Why Yes, I Am a Veggie-Head :)

So, I'm writing this blog while sitting in Waffle House, devouring some delicious hash browns. Yes, I realize this makes me kind of hypocritical, seems how the purpose of my blogs are to inform half on vegetarianism and half on healthy living. But hey, I ran 3.3 miles today at cross country practice, so I think I deserve it. But anyways, last blog I promised I'd talk about my reasons for becoming a vegetarian. Well, to start, I'll have been a vegetarian for 3 years now in December; and its never been difficult for me. From childhood I never really liked meat. In fact, my mom used to have to hide meat in things to get me to eat it-- it's always just been gross to me. The smell, the texture, the look, the taste-- just plain nasty. And whenever I say this people, they are always like, oh my God! Meat is so delicious! How could you say that? ... Well, if you saw what meat did to your arteries, you wouldn't eat it either. Just sayin', do some research. (Or just go to this website, www.meat.org, and watch the video, it will change your mind real quick) And if I can convert you to vegetarianism I would be thrilled! But since that is probably unlikely for most of you, I just want to make you more self-conscious. So, get started today with being healthy, and let's start being more aware of what we are putting in our bodies. Small changes make the biggest difference. For example, if you have to go out to eat, look for the lighter items on the menu. The next step is to find the most nutritious and organic items possible! Buy local produce and you'll cut tons of addictive hormones and chemicals from being pumped into your body. And after you take these steps, seriously consider going MEATLESS!! :) You will feel so much better, and your body will love you back too! So before I sign off for this blog, I want to shout out to my favorite quirky place to grab a bite that has started to cast their buckets down for vegetarians and healthy eaters in my very own hometown of Montgomery, Alabama-- Cafe Louisa! (If you live in this area, then make sure to try it out! And if you don't live around here, then cast down your bucket and start a place like it of your own!)

  1. I can be a vegetarian for a long time without wanting meat, but my family eats so much of it that it's really hard to get a fufilling meal. However, I also begin to look sick to most people, probably from the lack of food, but I think it could also result from my body adjusting to not consuming meat for a while. The longest i've gone without meat is three months, before my parents were forcing me to eat it. *sad face*
