Social Networking helps build chain stores Reputation

Last week, I basically explained what I will talk about through this blog, local growers versus grocery or chains. So, for this week I will talk about another pro about buying from grocery or chain stores. Recently, I got a Google alert about an article on the Business Journal website where the title was, “Grocery Stores Increase Social Networking”. This story intrigued me right away.

The article was explaining how big chain stores such as Walmart and Target are increasingly using social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter to gain market share. Market share is the percentage or proportion of the total available market or market segment that is being serviced by a company. It can be expressed as a company's sales revenue (from that market) divided by the total sales revenue available in that market.

This is good for the younger generations being that most are computer oriented. Also, lots of teenagers and adults use social networks such like Facebook and Twitter. Being able to get coupons online for grocery items is more convenient than buying a newspaper every week or so just for coupons. Farmers’ markets typically don’t have coupons and prices for produce, etc. can be cheaper with coupons that someone gets online from a chain store. Final thoughts, social networking websites are more useful than we think. I mean, who wouldn’t want to save money on food.
