Loosen The Penny-Pinching

Eating organic or local, you can easily lose a few pounds. But what mos fail to realize is the benefits of local produce, while still having that same magical diet touch. For the last week, I've been trying to convince my hard-headed mother to buy the fresh ingredients she needs for her favorite low-calorie meals from local farmers instead of the shelves of Wal-Mart. What she fails to realize and what I have been trying to reveal to her is the major benefits of doing something as small as changing her source of produce. Like I have been trying to tell her, buying locally has a strong influence on the economy in our area and the healthfulness of her home-cooked meals. Buying from a dirt-road farmer's market benefits the buyer because it's local, cheap, healthy, and puts food in their bellies. In the same way, the buy benefits the farmer because it earns money him and his family to continue with their small farm and support his family. This cycle of incoming and outgoing keeps a healthy balance of nutrients in the buyer's body and a sufficient amount of money circulating in our area, allowing us all to loosen our penny-pinching just a bit.
